The Ndutu area is a well renowned destination for birds and birders alike. The diverse habitat made up of short grass plains, shallow soda lakes (feeding ground of greater and lesser flamingos alike) fresh water marshes and acacia woodland results in a vast array of species exceeding well over 300, depending on the time of the year. The area is prime for both palearctic (intercontinental) migrants that arrive during the northern hemisphere winter and the intra-African migrants.

Both the diversity of species vibrancy of colour of African birds mean that even amateur wildlife observers and serious bird – watchers will always have something to enjoy.

We are especially interested in hearing about any unusual animal behaviour and also any rare birds which you have seen, so that we can update our Bird List.
