Predator Season at Ndutu is perfect for spotting cheetah out on the plains. With plenty of prey, the cheetah are active and amazing action can be seen daily. This young male, newly independent, called for his siblings, for an attempted hunt. Bob Johnson photography.

Amazing to think that this pride of 16 lions are living right in the heart of maasai-land with relatively little conflict. This is testamony to their evasion skills, the tolerance of the community and the education from Kope Lion.

Nayomi and her pride - feasting on a young giraffe. Barney and Baz effectively brought it down, and the group of 12 lions finished the kill in 15 minutes. Barney & Baz are sons of Nosikitok (she taught them well) but now "lodging" with Nayomi's pride, Fortunately this is a "well-behaved" group, selecting wild prey whenever possible despite being surrounded by thousands of livestock.

Lovely memories. One giraffe hardly enough for them all

With a reputation for being sly and scavenging, the Spotted Hyena is often misunderstood. They actively hunt in a pack, and a large kill can be cleaned up without a trace in hours, as we saw this week with a hippo kill at Lake Masek. Bob Johnson Photography.

Hippo - what hippo. I see the remains of a gazelle I believe.
Wow, Was the hippo on land at night? Or a little one? Surprised they would go for them with their tough skin/bite
Stunning pictures Bob!

Feeling satisfied after a a good meal of hippo. The hippo are walking further and further each night in search of grazing, and are easy targets for a group of young male lions. Bob Johnson Photography

Good news. Thank you. There are 4 young males in Masak Pride - just over 2 years old. (Barney, Baz, Bill and Ben). Whisker spots not clear enough to positively identify which one.
How many young males?
